When communicating with other people - particularly over radio, telephone, etc - there will be times when you may not be clear and your words may be misunderstood. Also, when stating letters or spelling words out, some letters sound similar (eg. M and N) and confusion may occur. In order to avoid mistakes, each letter of the alphabet can be represented by a word that makes it clear which letter you are saying. The following is the accepted international phonetic alphabet.
A - Alpha B - Bravo C - Charlie D - Delta E - Echo F - Foxtrot G - Golf H - Hotel I - India J - Juliet K - Kilo L - Lima M - Mike N - November O - Oscar P - Papa Q - Quebec R - Romeo S - Sierra T - Tango U - Uniform V - Victor W - Whiskey X - X-Ray Y - Yankee Z - Zulu
